Shedding Fur

How much fur should a Chinchilla who's about 2 years old be shedding? Our Chin looks like recently he's shedding a lot more (I find clumps of fur around his cage). He doesn't have bald patches anywhere but I just noticed that lots of little hairs are shedding off more then in the past. Does that happen after puberty or do they shed for new coats seasonally?
