Okay.. I define pale.. like umm.. the quote "body looks like a 75watt lightbulb" was said in my direction the other day. LMBO.

I like being pale actually but frickin' translucent. Some one suggested airbrushing.. I don't want to be orange at all. Because I am so pale I'm sure I'll turn orange. Waiting on the sun is funny because.. I'm in seattle. HA

So whats the scoop ladies and gents.. How can I bronze down.. a little.

I think if you find the right tanning place that does spray on tanning, you might be happy with the results. I think keep it as safe as possible! Since having had cancer, I'm even more paranoid about what I do to my body.
On another note, your from Seattle! Unlike Spokane, where we actually get SUN instead of RAIN! So glowing in the dark is probably more normal over there! Sorry for the tease! I had to go there. You know how many times, people think Washington state everywhere it rains! Ughhh annoying!

I think it is sad that people think you don't look healthy unless you have a tan. With skin cancers on the rise, everyone should think twice before sunbathing or hopping in a a tanning bed. Just think..stay out of the sun now... in 20-30 years you'll have great skin while the sun worshipers have prune like skin lol

I think it is something about the northwest and our lack of sun! I live a couple of hours north of you, and am also very pale! I've tried lotions with self tanners, but have never gotten an even look. If I lay out in what little sun we get, I can get a little color, but it fades fast. It's too much work for me to try and get dark, so I've basically accepted that I am a rarity with porcelain skin! And I do look pretty young for my age, so the lack of sun is actually good for my skin!

to get some color, i'd definitely just stick to a self tanner or go to a place with a spray tan- NO to tanning beds!

just as a side note, you CAN still get a tan if there is no sun. despite cloud cover, UV rays can still tan you, but you never see someone tanning in december (cold weather could also be the cause to that...). regardless though, sunscreen! and IMO, keeping sunscreen on regardless if you go out in the sun or not is one of the keys to healthy skin. extra spf if youre skin is prone to burning. and its nearly impossible to stay out of the sun anyways- a little vitamin D is healthy for us! so yes...spray tanners, and sunscreen!

Well considering I had a tumor over ten pounds removed out of my stomach, I'm in no hurry to get cancer.. again. lol

Cloud cover is tanning nothing on this body. I stood in texas in a tanktop under 103 degree direct sun.. barely had a tanline. lol Fell asleep with baby oil on my back as a teen. thought for sure I was burnt. Nope.

So self tanners.. or spray tan.. but what self tanners don't turn orange or streak bad with self application?

Im from Florida.. Born and raised.. And Im super pale. Definitely consider a spray tan. I wouldnt do home tans as they are hard to apply and streak. Also, If you dont have a good pair of gloves on your palms turn orange.

you gals in Washington think you're pale? come on up here! we've got 'January pale face' going on 8 months out of the year! lol.

i say ignore what people are saying, save your money, and just let your skin be it's natural tone. i really wonder what chemicals are in spray/lotion tanners to achieve the bronzed look, and what those chemicals do to a person over time. i don't nor won't use them.

I gave up on tanning, I've done it all. Its cheaper to save your money. Its better to just be pale and have healthy skin. I'm 21, look like I'm 12, because I've choosen to just leave my skin toen as is.

Pale skin= healthy skin and in 25 years your body will thank you for it!

But sure, I guess spray on tanners are okay if you are that worried about it. As the previous poster said, "Just save your money!" ;) I couldn't apply spray on tanner if my life depended on it. :p

LOL! I will never apply a spray tan myself. At that point I might as well start scripting my name down my leg.

I settled on just a tinted body lotion. I 'm a lotion spaz. It might streak but I'm really not looking to shade myself into the burnt sienna catagory.

I'm talking going from translucent to Ivory. HA

I settled on just a tinted body lotion

that is what i was going to suggest!!
and after watching last nights episode of jersey shore, i would never ever spray tan!

i am 100% italian and i always have tanned pretty easy BUT the rays of the sun are way stronger today than they were 30 years ago. i still will wear a light sunscreen so i dont burn and i dont want my face to look like a leathery fruit roll up!

embrace your skin tone!

As a Massachusetts native, we get every kind of weather there is, and I, like you, am ghosty-pale. I once had an African-American dear friend tell me, "You are the whitest white girl I have ever met." I never did even try to tan, I would just burn and peel anyway, I burn even with sunscreen at times. Particularly my nose.

But the upshot is, I am now in my mid-forties and no one ever believes that I am as old as I am. I am usually mistaken for someone at least ten years younger, whereas friends who were able to tan easily when we were teens are now paying the price for it, and spending money on skin creams, make up et al to try to hide that.

Embrace your color - or even lack thereof - and in the long run, you are better off!
