I just got my first dog. I've never had a dog or cat before, so along with my first dog comes my first battle with pet hair!

My pup is a corgi/jack russell/maybe chihuahua mix (he's a rescue so it's a guess.) His coat is thick and short, like a jack.

I have one of those Fur-minators (awesome!) and that helps keep the shedding down.

What do you guys find best (besides the vaccuum) for getting fur off of the couch and clothes?

I remember I saw a special "scrub brush" on TV that looked pretty good. The bristles were curved at the bottom and would hook out all the embedded fur. It was German or something, but I can't remember and I'm having no luck searching it online. Do you know what I'm talking about?

Jack russells don't really have thick fur, I'm guessing that's from the corgi. As far as a brush for the dog, a zoom groom also works really well for the coarser top coat.

For your furniture and clothes you can always try those sticky roller brushes, which work best for clothes. For the upholstery, I've heard good things about the Scotch Fur Fighters, it's similar to the rollers but it is supposed to work better http://www.3m.com/brands/scotch/furfighter/

Not sure if you have those in Canada or not though.

If he has corgi in him be warned that they shed constantly year round. My friend has two.

She ends up using the furminator conditioner, then brushing the tar out of them with the furminator brush a couple times a week to keep the fur load down. The conditioner really works.

As far as furniture - they aren't allowed on it. Solves that problem. :))

However, you may find on one of these lint brushes useful, the red fuzzy ones are what I use to de-chinchilla/cat myself before work. Going one way they pick up fur, rub them the other way and it balls off in your hand. Reusable and cheap! I keep one in my chin grooming box for shows too.

Oh goodness, he has corgi in him? He is going to shed like CRAZY. I have a corgi and he sheds a lot, all the time.

We vacuum the couches (he likes to lay on them) twice a week and that helps.

Let me see.Hmmmm. Three people,a shih-tzu,a yorkie,a long hair maine coon cat,two other shorthair cats,6 chinchillas, and a hamster.Husband is paramedic and volunteer fireman both uniform pants are dark blue and black. I looovvvveee the Scotch fur fighters. They work great but can get a little pricey so I save them for when the company is coming chairs. The only other thing I use and works well is simply use rubber gloves/dishwashing gloves. They grab the hair and you can roll it up to the edge of the furniture and vacuum it off. The gloves work really well. On occassion though my hubby will forget to lint roll his uniform pants before he leaves and he'll take a butt kitten with him!LOL:thumbsup:
