No, it's not recommended and there's really no point to it. A chin in a clean cage with regular dust baths doesn't smell bad. Your chin doesn't want to smell banana or watermelon every time they dust bathe, and the only reason you would want to is if they smell bad, which they don't. Stick with Blue Cloud or Blue Sparkle. They are the best dust that is on the market.

ok... thanks all these stupid websites that they have for chinchilla care is bull crap... do you know anyone that has products for sale for my critter???

Even if it was safe and the chins needed to smell like lilacs or vanilla or root beer floats, that stuff is strong! I swear, I am going to use it for carpet fresh or something. I end up with a bottle every other rescue that comes in...I wish I could find a new use for it.

It's expensive, it doesn't work very well at all and it makes the chins stink worse than if they just smelled like dirty cage...one chin made my whole car smell like nasty fake vanilla...

EWWW the vanilla is the worst, the last foster I had had that dust and it stunk up the living room!

Already am visiting them.. I think I'm just gonna stick with those...lol Petstore prices are way more expensive :)

It isn't even good vanilla...like a nice vanilla scented candle. This is like someone poured fake vanilla extract into a pan on the stove and let it burn. How could they think that it smells good? Doesn't anyone making it have a nose? The cucumber melon isn't much better...but it doesn't seem to linger as much.

That poor Jeeves chinnie smelled like vanilla for weeks. I think that it sort of wrecked his coat, as well. He looks perfect now. I am attaching pictures. The first picture was after a dust bath with Blue Cloud and the second is six weeks after getting two dust baths a week. I need to get some current pictures of him now...he is really good looking since he's filled out and his fur is PERRRRRFECT. :D

Jeeves was a rescue...he wasn't loved at all and he was so scared. The people met me at a gas station with a carrier with nothing in it but Jeeves, a container of that dust and a half bag full of some Kaytee blend of pellets that said it was great for chins. Poor little dude was skinny and scared and looked terrible...but smelled like burned vanilla... :D

Chins are so cute at around 8 weeks. :D Enjoy your baby...I'm glad that she was well cared for!

Ohh :( She likes my dogs.. I was thinking in a year or in december I would get her a bigger cage.. Cause I also want to get another chinchilla too... :) Shes my baby.. Shes spoiled...lol
