Okay, so long story short I have this cut on my forehead above my eye. Got it glued up because the doctor said it wouldn't scar as bad as stitches would. But she said to avoid scarring at all I should try a scar cream but she didn't recommend any. I have to wait 2 weeks before I can start to "peel" the glue off and 1 week after that before I can apply any creams to it.

But I wanted to have someone on hand a head of time. I don't want this scaring.

Here's what it looks like...

Had anyone tried something they worked? Any recommendations?

sorry you got a boo boo, ****oo! Sorry, Bon, I couldn't help it! I know there are several scar creams out there, and I personally don't know what's better. But in my opinion, I think age has a lot to do with scarring. When I was younger, I got all kinds of scrapes and they never scarred, even though I wanted them to! Both of my boys have gotten some pretty bad burns when they were younger, much worse than your injury, and Brandon has barely any scarring at all, Josh none. I think the younger the skin, the better the recovery. Now that I'm older, I scar way too easily. And I don't want to scar now! So I'm sure somebody will have a suggestion for you for the best cream, and they are supposed to help, but I bet if you take good care of the area, let it heal like it is supposed to, there would be minimal scarring anyway. Good luck!

I have one friend that scars easily. She swears by Mederma for removing scars. I'm thinking of using it on my boyfriend's hand. He was in the army and during the stupid fazing they put a white hot quarter in his hand. He hates that scar more than anything.

First follow drs orders until the glue has peelled off. Once that it has healled over and there is no raw skin start Mederma. If the scarring looks bad or if there is keloiding then go to a dermatologist and get was it called kenalog injections that will flatten it out and lighten the skin. I had two cycles and the scar is completely flat and the same color at my skin.

It doesn't look like your scar is in a highly exposed area but my surgeon also told me that during the first year after the injury put lots of sunscreen on the scar as they tend to darken when exposed to the sun. Then after a year, they usually will lighten when exposed to sun.

I also use mederma and when I stay on top of it (3-4 times a day) I do notice it helping. I've also been told of some silicone pads/sheets that you put on the scar to help the healing process. I haven't yet tried them but I may since once of my scars isn't disappearing as well as the other.

Is that why you are "****oo*Thekiddo*?
Sorry, hope it heals ok for you and doesn't scar. Give it the time it needs to heal, do not rush it. Mederma sounds familiar, and hopefully it does the job for you. No more ****oos, ok? :)

I'll put my vote in for the mederma too, especially asap after the dr. ok's you to use something.
if all else fails, skin peels (there's a number of types) can actually do a really nice job if scar reduction if creams don't work.

Mederma is shall be.

It hasn't fully healed yet. Taking its time. There is still a knot there though. :/ Hopefully it will go away after it heals.

The liquid stitch came off toward the bottom. So my dad put liquid bandaid on it. Which later caused more liquid stitch to come off. Was suppose to go to the dr the half day they were open on Christmas Eve but got stuck working for the slacker I work with. It was scab over by the time they open the following Monday so the doctor my parents talked to (a friend of moms) said just let it heal as it is.

Since the liquid stitch is gone now use Vasilene to keep it moist. Keeping it moist will prevent scarring. Also to not pick at the scab. If you keep it moist it will keep it from feeling itchy and the urge to pick wont be there. Once it is completely healed over and there is no raw skin start that mederma right away and use it as directed. Using it every once in a while will not work. So you will need to stay on top of it.

Mederma has helped with my nasty knee surgery scar. I'm told it is the onion bulb extract that helps. I wonder if it would help if I rubbed a peeled onion over my scar? LOL It would be a lot cheaper!
