wanted to start regularly weighing my guys. what is a decent scale u giys would recomend?

I just bought a scale from Wal-mart in the food section. It weighs in grams, pounds, and ounces, and comes with a tray to sit on top which is great for plopping a chinnie in.

I have that one too! But Herby would not sit on it, so I have to weigh a mixing bowl first then put her in the bowl and weigh her and then subtract the difference. It makes for an interesting weigh in! :)

I have this exact same scale as well. It works great and I have never had a problem with it in my two years of ownership.

For particularly rowdy chins I bring out the shoe box. I tare the scale with the box on it, remove the lid, pop in the chin, put on the lid and get my reading. It only takes a second to get a weight. My vet has a little perforated metal box for weighings. Most of the time I can get a weight on the scale without too much of a problem...the chins will sit still for a second sometimes. :)

I think I have the Walmart scale, too. I have a couple of Tanita scales, as well. They all work pretty well for being fairly old. I like the Walmart scale because it will more accurately weigh the really large chins that are over 1000 grams...the smaller scale doesn't seem to appreciate that much weight!

I have the Walmart scale with the clear top. I do the same thing with the shoebox and use the tare feature.

Make sure to get one that can weigh over a pound. I made that mistake before.

hah sounds like walmart is making a killing in the chinchilla weighing business! thanks guys
