Does anyone know what I can replace the bottom of the FN 142 cage with? I can't order the Bass pans because I have no credit/debit card. :X. I want something that I can buy from stores.

You can tile the bottom. There have been several members here that have done it. As for something you can purchase in a pet store though, I don't know of anything.

You could possibly pay Bass Equipment with a check. I would call and ask.

Since you're in the US, you could go another route.. Before we got our pans another way, we put an ad on Craigslist in our city in the wanted section to get some price quotes from machine (metal) shops/workers on what it would cost to have pans made for our FN's... A lot of people are out of work still, especially in that industry. If you can get pans made locally you won't have to pay shipping or use a card. A bigger plus is that you would get to work with the person directly on how the pans are made. We had our pans made with rolled edges, for example. The downside is that you have to kind of know what you want and be VERY specific with them on what is acceptable for materials and what your price to work with is. One guy came back to us 3 different times with different issues with what we wanted each time. Kind of a pain, but it might be worth checking out if Bass won't take a check by phone.

I used granite to tile my FNs since I wanted it to stay cooler, although ceramic's non-porous qualities are nice too. Here is my thread on the subject.
