My poor Remy. He puked night before last, then at 4am then at 7am yesterday morning.. He has had the ucky poos too which has given him a nice bum rash. He's slowly getting better. Had me up to nurse every 2 hours, which I didn't mind because that meant he was getting food and wouldnt get dehydrated. I walked to the heath food store today (2 blocks) and got him some organic yogurt for the probiotics. Anyways, at last check (at 9am) his temp was 99.6, down from the original 101.4 the day before.

SO luckily he is getting better, but still not his normal self. He looks a bit pale/flushed in the cheeks. It was his first sickies. I feel/felt so bad for him.

Poor Remy. Best Magic Bum Potion (our little name for it here LOL) is an equal parts mixture of pure Lanolin, Bacitracin, and Zinc Oxide. I am telling you it clears stuff up overnight! Well, it did for us anyway :). We still use it for lots of stuff here.

One of the docs in town has a compound that he prescribes for "diaper rash" and it's basically what you just put except, add benedryl cream. Not sure of the proportions but those are basically the ingredients. And yes, it will work wonders. I always used to put that on Pierce's bottom and then sprinkle it with baby powder to help keep it from getting rubbed off by the diaper. It works....

ETA - and I think it was bactroban cream rather than bacitracin in this doc's compound

Oh no! I hope he feels better soon, it's the worst when your child is sick. Did you go to the pediatrician?

Yeah, I figured there was probably nothing they could do for stomach flu. Poor little guy, give him a hug from me.

Yeah, that is usually the way it goes, even for older kids.

Thats how it was with kaiden too... Day time he was up & willing to play & night he was back to sick. so strange.

The first sicky isnt a fun experience like some of the other firsts.(nor will any others be.. ) Hope he gets to feeling better soon!

I second the bag balm, but the others mentioned work wonders too. (Or if you have somewhere easy to clean letting him romp around in the buff its THE best solution.) When kaiden got bad diaper rash i would put him in a onesie with footy pjs over it without a diap. He got air on the 'wound' to help dry it out, but also had something covering him as a just in case thing for our carpet. (of course expect to have some laundry after a good rinse in the tub if needed. lol) OH, my mother in law swears by the baking soda in a warm bath. (thats her cure all for everything.) It did help with kaidens & of course the bath helped make him feel better in general.

Good luck!
