Hey folks..

I received two large enclosures (ExoTerras) for my reptile rescue, but someone had duct tape on one ..and clear, sort of like cheapo scotch, tape on the other... so when I removed the tape, it left a nasty trail of sticky ol' adhesive behind.

Any idea how to get that off the plastic/resin frame? I don't want to scratch it up too much ..the cages are actually pretty nice, in spite of the tape fiasco.

Thanks! :)

I think I've heard acetone(spelling), like in nail polish remover is supposed to be good at removing tape gunk...

Haha.. I was just about to IM you.. and decided to look here first ;) Thanks!

you can buy stuff called goo be gone...which seems to work well... or you can try lemon juice (Vinigar)...which seems to work for me work also!

My hubby has some Goo Be Gone here somewhere.. and I have lemons and distilled vinegar in the kitchen. The latter is probably safer, as far as toxins go..

I'll try the natural route first, then go with the chemicals ...if necessary.

Thanks again!

Goo Gone is great, and so is Goof Off for that sort of thing. Just make sure you clean the area very well after using it.

A natural thing to use is oil, or peanut butter. They loosen the glue, but it takes longer. I'd think the acids in vinegar may work too, but I hadn't thought to try that before. :D

Lighter Fluid or WD-40 will work wonderfully. You can always go over it with soap and water to get the Lighter Fluid or WD-40 off when you're done, but they work wonders on anything that's sticky or waxy... tape residue, gum, crayons, etc and even on/in clothing.

I tried the distilled vinegar and it makes it smear, mostly.. yey :hair:

I used to know where my WD40 is.. hubby uses it and never puts it back.. *gotta love boys* ...but I'll try that next, I think. If it smells funny after, I'll just sit the cages outside for some sun ..when that decides to shine again...

*gotta love rain, too* ;)

Thanks Everyone!

Tape takes tape residue off. The stickier the tape the better. Just push it into the goo and rub, then peel off. Repeat as necessary. I've also heard that hair spray helps get goo off.
