We got the new aquarium tonight! Got it set up (for the most part. Gonna run out to the store to get the other stuff this weekend as we couldn't over the week. Yay for getting called into work)

I have pics, but for some reason, neither Photobucket or CnH will let me upload them *grumbles* gonna keep trying.

Hey! Here we go (feel free to merge this post with the one above it)

Sorry fo the epic hugeness, apparently tinypic doesn't resize like photobucket does.

As the turtle grows, we're going to swap sides, then either fully get rid of the 'dry' side or make the small side smaller.

Initially when we put her (him?) in it, she seemed a bit overwhelmed, but realized after a few minutes there was more depth/size and was swimming around, as you can see.

Yeah. We plan on getting him an easier 'dock' tomorrow, along with the basking light. The awesome thing about that hood is it's a dual lamp hood, and already has a Repti-sun UVB 5.0 bulb in it, along with the generalized flourescent light. It also has a glass top, but we have the Repti-sun bulb over the open part. Once it gets warmer, we'll switch to the screen top.

I can't wait to watch it get bigger. I really want to know what "it" is! lol

oh my gosh! s(he)'s soo little!!! i have a R.E.S we got from a friend and compaird to yours, ours is a MONSTER! haha
but your little one is super cute! have any names picked out yet??

It was "Scaley" and then my sister changed it. I'm not sure what to yet. This is my 14 year old sister's pet, not mine, btw. Doesn't mean I don't like him/her. But I prefer my furballs haha. I'd rather have a beardie than a turtle.

So a question!

We got a submersible filter tonight, and it seems to be a tad powerful for the amount of water we have. It's a filter for up to 80 gallons. S/he has a dock to get out onto and a still section of water behind the filter, but s/he seems to have problem swimming. Will s/he strengthen to the water, or should we get a smaller filter til later?

Nope. I looked, there's nothing. Therese (Silverrose) and I were talking about maybe finding something to wrap around the extended tube to slow the flow, but I don't know what would be safe to use. And of course I can't remember what kind it is. I was hoping I could maybe make a waterfall of sorts, but the attachments don't work for that.

It does have an attachment for the water sprayer (where the water comes out) with a tube for "Regulated air flow". But the instructions were pretty.... vague on how to set it up.

ETA: This is the filter we got http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/243221/product.web

Some new pics of her. We managed to get the filter issue solved by pointing it towards the floor of the aquarium. It's still a little rocky, but nowhere near as bad as before.

And how the whole side looks. Don't mind the cords, we're still trying to figure out a way to manage these as they're currently coming out through a 'trapdoor' type thing in the top of the aquarium. It'll probably look more eye-pleasing as the tank is expanded. And over the 'dock' is her basking lamp. She likes to dive off the platform lol.
