Rats?

I just recently noticed while playing with my rat that her nails are SHARP. Do I need to trim them? Or do rats have their own way of trimming their nails?

You can trim them, or offer them something hard like a stone to climb on and wear them down on their own.

to trim them would i just buy a trimmer from like petsmart or petco? i didn't know they even made trimmers for rats haha

In my experience, stones or bricks in the cage just turn into something to pee on. You can use a small pair of nail clippers and just take the tips off the nails. Be sure to have Quick-Stop or something on hand in case you cut the quick.

Yup, I had a set of nail clippers that were just for my ratties. I also had a little nail file to smooth them out too. She would let me gently file her nails while watching T.V. )
