as some of you know, i have 8 dumbo rats. well im slowly but surely getting them on a proper diet and doing introductions of my males. i have two baby girls that were in a cage with two baby boys for about two months (a month with us and a month with their previous owner)..
their is a possibility or a major possibility really that the two females are pregnant.
the girls are boys are separated now. but i don't really know what to do for pregnant girls.
i will be getting a kitchen scale (since i need one for a chin anyways) and weighing the girls everyday or so, so that way i know for sure if they are or not.
if you have rats and you've had females pregnant, could you help me out?

I would not bother weighing them. I am not a huge fan of messing with pregnant female anythings, be it rats or chins. When I suspected my pet store rat was pregnant, I put her in a baby safe cage, gave her a nesting box, made sure she had a good diet, then sat back and waited.

I have heard of folks who let their females litter together and others who keep them separate. I have only had two females litter her, and both were from pet store screw ups, both at different times, so this wasn't an issue I needed to consider.

How long has it been since you removed them from the males? Rat gestation is typically 21 - 24 days, can be a bit longer. You will need to have them in a baby safe cage and feed them well. A good place for information is http://www.goosemoose.com/rfc/

i'm part of that forum as well and have asked them too. i just knew that some people on here also has rats so i figured id ask in both places.
i removed them from the males three days ago.
they are in a baby safe cage as in they themselves are only a couple months old.
if the two females are pregnant are they safe to stay in the same cage? there's a total of three females in this cage.

I seperated my OOOPS prego mom because sometimes female rats can overdo the helping and hurt a baby by fighting over it!! It wasnt worth the chance for me. Females will also get very nippy with you during pregnancy, so be careful (mine drew blood on several occasions). I would say that you can probably look forward to something like this...
