I have only been a chin owner for a year and a half and am still learning i have three chins bella is a yr and a half and just got two males bandit and smokey a few months ago they are six months they have always gotten along up untill four days ago when bella went in heat and it kinda scared me because i was sleeping and heard loud noises when i got up i saw bandit with some of his hair ripped out and his hand bleeding alittle i tried to clean it up but he still holds it up but its not swollen or anything should i get him checked out? I moved him to a different carrier so he can rest it but i have put him back in the cage he shared with them and smokey and him stand on their back legs and grunt at each other even bella has shied a way from him i had to take smokey and put him in the carrier to see if bandit and bella could get to be friends again but im not sure they are doing okay but will i be able to put them all together again or has bella chosen her mate and will they always fight could you please help me thanks rita

You should never have 2 males in a cage with a female, they can fight to the death over her. Unless you plan on breeding they should all be separated at this point.

two guys and a girl in a single cage is a bad idea period. It will lead to serious problems. They will have to be seperated. Its possible you could hosue both the males together in a seperate cage. Youd have to wait and see on that.

you'll need to separate all three, in my opinion. that means three cages for now.

the males may or may not 're-bond' with each other after this incident. usually when chins start fighting, they can't be housed together again.

the female should never be housed with any males, since you most likely don't know her background/pedigree and breeding chins when you don't know what genetics you are working with is very ill advised.

is their current cage able to be separated into two sections? you could house the males in there, each in their own section, and get a separate cage for the female. just make sure there is no way for the males to get at each other through the separation, because they may try fighting with each other that way.

As was mentioned you HAVE to separate them all Now before a chin or 2 is killed. Also you should take the male that was wounded to the vet. Bites can easily get infected.

Since she has been with males, she is probably pregnant already. You need to mark 111 days from now on your calendar and put her in a baby safe cage (wire spacing 1/2" x 1" or smaller). Oh, and they need to have separate play times, too.
