So you may know that I am getting my first Chinchillla on Sunday if you saw my other post.

The problem is I have to go over 2 hours away to pick it up and that is what worries me.

I know they don't like going to new places and I fear that being in the car for over 2 hours will have a bad effect on it. What should I do about this? How can I make it as comfortable and safe as possible for my new chinchilla and how should I introduce it to its new home?

Many chins do fine with travel- some breeders travel 10+ hours on the roads with their chins for shows. They usually just sleep the entire ride. Just keep her in a carrier (I buckle them in just to be safe in case of sudden stops, etc.) and don't bother her much. I also throw a handful of hay and a few chew toys in the carrier for my chins when we travel, along with a chinchiller during warmer temperatures.

If you have a fleece tube, go ahead and put it in.

My boys love to be in the tube in their cages, so they are just as happy in it in the cat carrier I use on long trips. I think they feel more secure.

Your new baby will be just fine! 2 hours is a drop in the bucket compared to some trips I have taken chins on. How much time is left on the countdown??? ;) BTW I think that you are going to make one fantastic chinnie-parent!!!

Not sure when we leave but hopefully sometime around 12 on Sunday =D
and thank you so much!!!! That means a lot to me.
