It's the same size and everything. The silver is also now $50.00. I paid $74.95 plus $15.00 shipping not more than a month ago. >.<

I'm totally going to get one for my male chinchilla. He has a pink lava ledge, lol. As if pets care what color it is. The price is right for me.

That might be the case though, perhaps they are going to start making silver 14 inch ones?

Aw, that's too bad, Essentia. Where do you get the silver ones? I've only seen the purple ones.

I just got mine a couple weeks ago and the silver was still $75 but the purple was cheaper, so I got the purple. They really are great wheels, and with the price of Chin Spins increasing and my dwindling satisfaction in them, I decided to give one a try. Now I wish I could trade in all the Chin Spins for the Silver Surfers!

Arg, I had seen the purple Silver Surfers awhile ago but they were sold out for awhile (or too expensive, I don't remember) but there was a reason I stopped checking them. I JUST ordered the Chin Spin yesterday and they already shipped it, now I regret it!

Yeah, I think I'll definitely be getting a Silver Surfer in the summer when I finish upgrading his cage (I got him in January and I'm slowly but surely removing all the plastic in his cage that the older owner had given him and putting in fleece, ledges,etc.). The silver surfer is nice too because it takes up less space than the Chin Spin (and 20 dollars less doesn't hurt either).

I've got a question though, I've got the Feisty Ferret cage which is similar to the Ferret Nation in that it has the three horizontal bars on the sides of each level. Does anyone have a ferret nation, and did you have trouble at all attaching it to the cage? Having two hooks instead of more wing nuts kind of worries me.

I have a question.
Are flying saucer wheels supposed to be silent? I have an older one in my prairie dog cage and its very loud. I've heard that you can replace certain parts.

I am working on getting my husband to build another custom cage for my two prairie dog girls but its going to have to wait until we move to NY this summer. The cage they're in is huge (4 levels) I think it's a martin cage but not sure as I got it used. I hate the wire shelves and ramps (hence why we're going to build) or I'll work on replacing them with wood. Regardless, the girls LOVE the flying saucer, they run on it constantly! but the noise is driving me nuts. Here is a link to a youtube video of them running on it.
The noise isn't that bad on the video (part of the noise is their nails but the wheel itself makes noise) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGCSO4I-cWE&safety_mode=true&persist_safety_mode=1&safe=active

Is this fixable?

thank you!

Any suggestions for cage plans are welcome.

I didn't get my FN and Chin Spin yet (arriving Wednesday!) but I've seen several people complain about cage rattling - any help for that? At least it can't be worse than our current wheel and cage...eesh.

They are super friendly. I got them as 8-9 week old pups a year ago. They were wild-caught (as are most PD's in the pet trade) so it took a lot of patience and time in their bonding pouch (thank you Tiffany!) for them to trust me. Now, they crave attention and haven't met a person they don't like. They literally lunge themselves at you when you open the cage and want to be cuddled.
I've heard of some PD's that become territorial and very aggressive towards strangers but not mine. They live in my Animal Science classroom where they are spoiled with attention. They'll be moving into my house in two weeks so I need to find a way to quiet the wheel.
