Are both your chins still friends now or did they have a falling out?

Neither technically. They got along great. So great that i was shocked when my ferret was out to play and found a baby chin, that i didn't know existed, underneath the refrigerator.

After learning more about it, i knew chances were she was pregnant again. So i let them stay together until it came close to a possible due date. But i had to keep them separate after that. No more babies. She now lives in a cage with her two daughters. And he lives in a cage with his son.

But while they were together, they got along perfectly. In fact i have to have fleece covering in between there cages now. He has heart problems, and he gets so worked up when he sees her. So i have to make sure he cant see her at all for his own health.

Oh my  The fridge?!

I'm glad they have their babies to keep them company! :) I've always loved having pets and their offspring. It just seems extra cute in my opinion. ^.^ My brother's pit is getting old so he bred him and kept one of his daughters. They're the cutest things ever. XD

I have just successfully paired 2 male chinchillas. I only got my first chinchilla in February this year so all of this was new to me. You definitely need to keep them in close proximity of each other in their cages so they get used to each other. For the first few days I covered part of the cage of the new chinchilla that was closest to my other cage. Then one night I was woken to barking. I thought it was my new chinchilla bubba but when I went through I saw it was my other chinchilla. So I removed the blanket and for the next few nights they'd just stare at each other through the cages and give off the occasional squeak. After a week I swapped them about so they were in each other's cage so that they could beg used to the scents. Then a few days later I attempted the first meeting thinking things were goin well. I put them into the playpen and all was good for a few mins then Bubba started to chase penny my other chin and it went down hill quick. They didn't bite but they hissed and I called it a day quickly. For the following weeks I went back to step 1 (cage covered for a few days in the evening, taking blanket off then swapping cages) and then I decided to try the car carrier method and it worked. Because it was so small they couldn't chase each other. I won't lie and say they didn't have a few barks here and there and they both mounted each other but after 10 mins they calmed down. I placed a blanket over the carrier so it was dark and they both went to sleep. I did this on and off for a few week and the mounting persisted with both of them but they'd also groom each other and it never seemed violent. The newest chinchilla did seem more dominant so when the day came to finally out them in the one cage I decided not to clean all the toys etc which I know is recommended. After monitoring my chins I thought it was best for my old chinchilla who was a little bit more laid back to feel it was still his cage and I knew my new chinchilla was outgoing enough that he'd be ok. I now have 2 very happy chins living together. They snuggle up all day together and although they have very different personalities they seem to thriving together. I just wanted to share my experience as I read so many ways of how to introduce new chinchillas and I'd definitely go with those principles but I'd definitely pay attention to your chinchillas and try and read them and what they seem comfortable with. They will soon tell you if they don't like something. Don't force or rush the
Situation either. It really does take time. Good luck and keep us posted x

There hasn't been any aggression yet, so hopefully it will go smoothly. :)

Oh my  The fridge?!

yea... was quite the shock to me.

I had no idea she was pregnant much less gave birth. She showed no signs of pregnancy. And kits can fit through bars of a FN cage like they are not even there.

I don't know where she gave birth, but often times its in the place they are most comfortable i heard. Which at that time was a hut at the very top of the second floor of the FN. So it scares me to think how he might have gotten from there to under my fridge... Scares me more to think what would have happened if my ferret didnt find him...
