In the last few days, I've started to be able to feel my chinchillas teats... is this a pretty good sign that she is pregnant? Is there any way to tell how close she is to giving birth?

That usually happens 4 to 6 weeks before the "blessed event".
When you see kits, unless you've witnessed the actual breeding, is the "due date"!

The only way to be sure they are due is to find kits in the cage you can guess. like two weeks before you can feel kicks, I have had females go 4 weeks with kicks and females with no kicks. Just gotta wait it out

some say that their females will go into cleaning fits or sleep differently etc. but, like everyone else said-it's just a waiting game
