Hey! I have two female chins, each two years old. One of the chins, Zuzu, is smaller than normal, and I just assumed it was her breeding or she was a runt. She also has what could possibly be a hunch back. I took both the chins to an emergency vet when I was worried about the other one, and the vet told me that Zuzu was tilting her head a little and had a bit of a hunched back.

I'm taking her back to the vet in about a week to see if this is a serious issue. I've had her for about 8 months now and she hasn't changed weight, she has a good appetite, she poops regularly, and she hasn't eaten anything bad (besides chewing on my cords and books). I have a few pictures of her and I was wondering if you guys think I should be concerned.

The chin looks too healthy IMO to have hunchback that is caused by hepatic lipidosis, looks more like a conformation issue. The head tilt could be a left over symptom of a past inner ear infection. Cute chin, as long as the chin is eating a full ration, drinking, pooing, doing all the chin things chins do, is not lethargic if this was my chin I would just watch, keep a weight record and see if time straightens out the hunch and tilt. There is no real medical treatment for hepatic lipidosis except a healty diet and time.

One of my chins has a head tilt and hunch back as well. The head tilt came from ear issues, I'm not sure exactly what because he was a rescue. All I know is that he is deaf and tilts his head. His hunch back was worse when he first came here, but I think it was because he was anorexic and when he did eat they fed him Kaytee junk food. He's been here for 4 months now and is putting on some weight. He used to sit with his head kind of hanging down and now he sits more upright. You can see his improvement in the pictures, the first one is from a few days after he was here and the last one is from about 3 weeks ago. The second pic is how he used to always sit with his head kind of down, and now the third pic is what I see more often. His other new favorite way to sit is what I call the "budda pose", kinda like he's showing off his belly. With him it was a diet change from junk to Mazuri and good hay that helped him gain some weight and start losing the hump. He is also on B&B's Chinchillas supplement that he loves and he gets bluegrass as a treat. He's very picky and doesn't like any other treats except the lollipops that Stacey makes.
So, I guess basically, the head tilt likely won't go away, and the hump may be diet/weight related more so than an actual hunchback. When I started looking into how to help the hump I read that it can take 1-2 years to get an animal back up to a good healthy weight where you won't see the hump anymore.
ETA: BTW your girl doesn't really look like she has a hump to me, but I know that sometimes pictures don't always show things very well.
