My house now has AC, but if I moved into a house where there was not AC how much would it cost to run a window unit? and, Are there window units that work better than others?

That will depend on where you move, how big the a/c is, how big the room is you need to cool, whether the house is insulated or not, etc.
I buy whatever a/c is cheap at the beginning of the summer. If it lasts me 2 summers, I consider myself lucky.

it would be a pretty well insulated place. The temperature changes are too drastic not to have good insulation here. And it would probably just be an 8' by 10' room, with one window.

I don't knwo how much it would cost (I never knew for mine) but I would defenetly pick an energy star one since they are more efficient.
