One of my chins started drooling last week. I took her to the vet yesterday and he said that one of her top 1st molar has a point on it. He filed it down so from yesterday to today she lost 18 grs. I see her eating pellets. If she looses more weight I'll make an appointment for Thursday and have x-rays done. My vet is closed on Wednesday. My main concern is having a point on a tooth is this a sign of malo?

Did they prescribe any pain medicine like metacam? I was told that having teeth worked on can be very painful and they dont want to eat. Call your vet and buy some critical care and start supplementing. Also make sure they are getting fluids if not drinking they will need to be given sub-q so definately talk to your vet!! I have a sick chin i am giving critical care to also along with a buttload of other meds. It's not fun at all, but I hope everything goes well!!

It would be something to consider if it happened again. If it was a one time deal, it could be that something affected her chewing pattern for whatever reason, causing her to wear her teeth wrong. I would definitely get x-rays to be sure there isn't more going on than that one spur, and then wait and see.

I had some metacam from before from another chin so I've been using that. She was down to 630 grs yesterday from 662 grs on Monday. I've been hand feeding her she was up to 645 grs last nite.

We just got back from the vet he said that she didn't need x-rays and rechecked her mouth. I fed her again before I put her back into her cage and she was 656 grs.

I hope she starts to feel better, poor little thing. At least she's starting to gain again. That's always a good sign.
