Recently I've been sick with a nasty kidney infection, it seems I can't go for an hour without wanting to close my eyes and just the exertion of changing my sheets leaves me drenched in a clammy sweat. Now I'm not contagious, just ill, and though Chichi ( aka P-pain I-in T-the A-a$$ ) may have missed some exercise periods earlier on, I didn't want him to miss out continuously so I've been wrapping myself in a blanket so I won't get chilled, and sitting down in the corner of the play area to supervise him.

Needless to say this is astonishing to our bold young chinchilla. He's not use to me sitting in one place and with an accessible full size blanket!! Ohho what fun. He usually begins by climbing to my shoulder, and proud of his courage he'll groom himself and them turn his attention to me.

Tsking softly to himself about the state of my eyebrows, he tugs them, he pulls them, he nips them ... but only on my right side. When I finally rouse myself enough to unwrap my arm to give him a scratch and a shoo... he races down the blanket and up the other side. There to sit on my opposite shoulder and softly mutter under his breath about my lack of appreciation for his grooming skills. The minute I tighten the blanket around me, he scoots back over to my right shoulder again to have another go at my unruly brow line.

He's never done this before. He's jumped on my lap and he loves to sit on my feet and sing to me, but this is the first time he's ever been so consistently physical with me.

Your opinions please, do you think he realizes that I'm not well and is trying to make me feel better? Or does he realize in my weaken state I'm easy prey?:laughitup:

PS I have cut back on the pain medication because I was terrible afraid that I would nod off in the play area and wake up with only one eyebrow left..

Oh my gosh that story is so darned funny!
When Jack was alive he used to run across the bathroom floor full speed and use me as a spring board to the counter top. Sitting on the floor made me the perfect object to get to such heights.
Run across the floor....hit the legs....up on the shoulder and then to the top. All the while muttering behind me. ( as if I didn't know he was there  )

He took great pride in chewing any magazine I was reading and would also take time out to trim my eyebrows or search my eyelashes for ???

I'm going with easy prey.
Personally I think your chin was contemplating the whole vegan thing when you were tasted. ( snorts ) Testing the possibility of turning carnivore in the future should you be ill and weak. Be afraid. Be very afraid........

Note: Should you nod off and wake with one eyebrow....we need photos.

Too funny. Perhaps you should continue with the same routine even when you are well! He obviously enjoys taking care of you!

That is just way too funny! I guess there's no way of really knowing, but my dog and cat always knew when we were sick, so it's quite possible that your chinnie does too.

My girl will groom my face sometimes when I stick my face in her cage to say hi. try touching noses together n see if he will give you a chinnie greeting. =P I think maybe he is taking advantage of your stillness to gain some attentions hehe.

ps hope you recover quickly. =(

My sage has a fondness of me with a blanket... He will be running while I lay on the floor.... And she will come flying under the covers and cuddle up to me for protection from gosh knows what! Lol, she had been in stasis and play time and excersise was an important part of her recovery. She was still weak, and decided to cuddle up right under my chin (my head was on the floor) and placed her paws lightly on my chin and fell asleep<3 all while slightly covered with a blanket! I find the blanket brings out unique personality traits in chins lol!!
