I was told that he's a beige, but he seems so pale compared to the pictures that I've seen of other beige's. But he's a cutie, and very opinionated about what he likes and doesn't like.
 
He is adorable. If I remember correctly beige's can change color with their age. He might even freckles on his ears.

He's adorable! Definitely a beige, he's just lighter and young. Sometimes they will darken with age but you won't see a huge change in his color. ;)

Also, our domestic chinchillas are from Chile, not Peru. M. F. Chapman trapped his 11 chinchillas in Chile and exported them from there. There are no chinchillas in Peru since they were the brevicaudata and they were trapped out by furriers before the South American countries put there laws in place protecting chinchillas.
 
I didn't name him, but it was better than calling him Twitch, like my mom wanted to at first. So Peru he is! And thank you for the history lesson! I always love learning new things.
 
He loves his scratches, and having the top of his head rubbed as well.
