I can't seem to find an ingredient list on their website. Do you have an ingredient list you could post? It's not as common as many other chinchilla and rabbit pellets. We could help you out better if we knew what you are feeding now, what are you hoping to accomplish with a switch?

The girls are currently eating Purina Advance Nutrition Show Formula. I have read many posts about Beaphar Extruded pellets and how recommended they are except for the cost. I was just wondering if they were similar and recommended. I want my girls to have the healthiest advantage possible. Thanks

I believe the only similarity is that they are extruded. I think beaphar appeals to taste more then texture. I feed beaphar to one chin because I have to, but there are lots of wonderful pellets that are milled in the states. I wouldnt recommened beaphar to anyone in the states unless they had no other choice. If blue seal was a superior chin pellet I think we would be hearing more about it:thumbsup:

i also use the Beaphar plus. I give it to about 1/3 of my chins, but most specifically my chin with dental issues. the other ones who get it all have various weight gain issues as they are all rescues. If they didnt have "issues" they would only get the Purina Rabbit Show Chow.

the cost of the beaphar is amost $50 for a 2.5 pound bag. I try to stretch it out to last 6 weeks. And that is with giving only about 8 pellets to 3 chins plus a bowl for Richie. you can only order 1 bag at a time because of weight restrictions to the US, so I cant even save on shipping.

I would try to stick with a good quality food if your chins do not have any problems.

The Blue Seal is a rabbit pellet. I know someone who had issues with the quality of it and switched to just PCRS.

I just switched my guys to Oxbow, as my vet wanted my chins on chin pellets, specifically Ari who has had some medical issues.

So...is it better to feed a chin specific pellet? From what I've read, most of the pellets recommended are for rabbits. Very confusing! Just really want to do what is healthiest for the girls.

I've been feeding my guys all the Blue Seal Show Hutch Deluxe for quite some time now. They are all doing well on it.No poo issues, all are holding weight. They really aren't wasting anymore of it than they did the more expensive Oxbow(none of my guys really liked Oxbow and Mazuri caused poo problems). My latest addition readily gave up his Oxbow for the Blue Seal(even though I tried a slow change over,he would pick out the Blue Seal and leave the Oxbow)!I only have 7 guys so I drive about an hour every few months and get a fresh bag. What I don't feed ,I usually give away/donate to rescues.

I think you need to do what is best for your chins. I currently use 4 different feeds. I have 9 pet chins & 1 foster. 8 of them get the PRSC, i buy a 50 lb bag. Stitch will not eat it and likes Mazuri Chin food, so I buy a 35 lb bag of it and that is what he gets. sometimes I will give the other boys a pinch to mix it up and use it up! My dental chin likes the Oxbow, so I buy a small bag of that and only he gets it....sometimes i give him a pinch of the PRSC & Mazuri but he consistently eats the Oxbow. and the 4th food I get is the Beaphar Plus pellets. I get a 2.5 lb bag and all my picky PITA chins get that about 4 - 8 pellets on top of their regular pellet and Richie my dental chin gets a small bowl. Funny thing is that the beaphar has I think 4 differnt pellets in the bag and Richie only eats 3 of the,/ he always leave the one pellet! I recycle them and give them to the other chins. that stuff is too expensive to toss!

but i guess my point is that i tried a lot of different foods and ended up getting what worked for my chins. Is it cost effective? No Is it a pain to buy & store that many foods? Yes but are my chins happy?? yes! and that is what is important to me.

Richie loves the green hearts! and the big brown diamond are his 2nd favorite, the little reddish diamond he tolerates but he refuses to eat the round brown pellet!!!! LOL
that is too funny! all my others chins that get it.......eat them all. he is the only one that leaves me a bowl full of round brown pellets!

That is so odd, I wonder why the chins don't like that pellet? I save those as treats for the rest of the crew.

My chins will eat anything. They started out with a Blue Seal/PRCS mix, then just PRCS, then briefly I mixed in Mazuri but never switched over (due to some bad information and a chin who doesn't need the extra protein) and now they are on Oxbow. I have had them dump out ALL of their pellets for fun but never a specific type. There isn't a hay or a treat that they have ever turned down. I guess mine are just little piggies. =)
