paraffin oil?

does anyone have any info on paraffin oil being used to treat constipation? i have read on several breeders website that they use 0.5mL twice a day for no longer than 2 days to treat constipation...i also read that it is used in horses...i know they have similar digestive tracts...i was just wondering if anyone has any experience using it? thanks
