All products have corn in it, not by choice. For the mills to clean their equipment after using molasses they use corn to clean out the equipment. So some of the corn sticks to the equipment and whenever they mill again some of this corn gets into the different mixes milled for that run. The amount of corn is very little per 50 pound bag. That is why every once an while you see whole corn kernels in bags of pellets. I do not know if all mills clean this way, but where I buy my Nutrena NatureWise Rabbit Pellets direct from the mill they told me this is how they clean equipment after using molasses. That was my answer from the mill as I asked them why there is whole corn kernels in bags of pellets.

The PANR.

There's big chunks of it in each of the pellets. There is a lot of fine particles in the bag because chunks don't bind to the filler well which makes the pellets shorter.

Took a picture of a handful out out of the bag. That's a lot of fines for being at the top of a bag I've been dragging around all day.. :)) My last bag had none.

I've never seen this, but when we were having the Elk Pellet in the Chin Feed debacle, I learned a lot about how the Spokane mill was run. This feed binds with molasses, the corn in it is what is intended to be there.

I don't know where the local Southern mill is, haven't had enough of a problem yet to contact them. It takes mixed feeds (like above) or odd colored pellets (got pink once) to get me after them.

Randy is correct. I was told that by two mills as well. They run the corn through the hopper and it shakes everything loose. Most mills are careful about the corn so it doesn't end up in bags, but even then one or two might show up.

Hmm, my photo didn't show up.

I know that some use corn, some steam, depends on the mill. Not yet found a whole kernel of corn in a PANR bag.

That is ugly PANR! Hopefully my bag will look better. Shoot, hopefully I actually get a bag. This is the second time my feed store conveniently forgot to put in my order. At this rate I am going to have to order from someone else on here until they actually get their act together.
