Hi all!
I'm kind off new here!

Now i've got a question

Months ago I got a chin from a woman who couldn't take care for it anymore.
No problems with that. She's active, eats well.

She's around 5-6 years old but never had a companion :(
And the only chins I can buy are young ones.

Is it ok to put a young chin and an old one together?

Also can I expect some little ones if they paired up?

I want only the best for my chin!!!

Thanks
ChinSteve

You can try a same sex cage mate, but there's no guarantee they will get along. Younger to older does help with introductions, but there is always the chance that they will fight. You would need to observe a 30 day quarantine before putting them together, then go through an introduction process. You would have to have a second cage ready at all times in case they fight. That's just standard procedure for having more than one chin. When chins fight, it turns deadly really fast and you do not want to have them together if they do.

As far as will she have kits? Yes, if you put a male in there, there's the very real possibility that she will get pregnant. First, I would not breed a female that old just starting out. Second, you should not breed her if you don't know her background, her pedigree, her health history, where she comes from, etc. There are genetic diseases passed to offspring that are horrible to deal with and it's just not something a responsible breeder would do.

Thx mate that really helped!
as for kids i'll wait till I have some more experience

By kids, are you talking about the chinchilla's kits? I really wouldn't recommend breeding chinchillas (or any animal, for that matter) unless you are very, very experienced with them and have done a ton of research on the subject. It's not something that one should just jump into lightly.

Yes yes
Many people who saw my chin wanted me to breed (kits are cute and stuff)
But my chin never had kits and is around 6 years so it'll be best not to.

Check out the sexing chins links and posts. Shoot us a pic of "her" privates. I just want to make sure you know what sex chin you have so you would get a same sex cagemate.
