My chin, Herby, had some spikes removed from her back molars about a week and a half ago along with her front teeth filed down. The spikes on her molars were so bad that that they had ulcerated her cheeks, so she was on AB's and pain meds along with Bene-Bac gel. At her 1 week follow up, the vet said she was fine and that her teeth looked great and to keep feeding her the CC and try and get her to eat the new pellets.
Ive noticed that she is drooling, not a lot, and that she seems hesitant to eat the pellets but she will eat them as long they are crushed with some pumpkin and CC. I only use a little less than a tsp of pumpkin and 10 cc's of the CC and the pellets are a course grind.
She is pooping and peeing normally, though she is not drinking as much as she did before the tooth problems, but the vet said that could be because of the CC and the water I mix with it and the pellet mixture. And I bought her a new bottle and she really is not keen on the new one. she is also very active at playtime and in her cage.

I was wondering if she could still be having some residual pain from the procedures she had done? If anyone has an idea about this, I am open to your suggestions!

Back in the last week of september I had my 10 year old chinchilla (Lila) molars trimmed because she had spurs on them and couldn't eat. The spurs cut into her cheeks and she was put on critical care, baytril, and metacam. Her previous own had let them get really bad to the point that she couldn't eat pellets or hay. She also at the time couldn't drink from a water bottle. It took her about 2 weeks before she would start to eat pellets. She was kept on baytril and metacam for 2 weeks and then I stopped the baytril. With the metacam, I reduced the amount by starting to give it to her every other day for a few days and then made it every 3 days and eventually weaned her off of it completely. After those first 2 weeks I also started giving her less critical care by reducing it a little bit every day. But I also watched her and made sure that she was doing okay. And I also kept track of her weight.

I don't know about you chin, but Lila was VERY underweight. She was basically skin and bones. The day of her tooth trim she weighed 433g and now has been staying between 613-616g.

Just take it slowly and reduce the meds and cc slowly. And she should do well.

Lila also drooled and still did it would for about 4-5 days after her trim and then hasn't done it since.

Hope I helped some. Good luck!

My girl Sunni had the "spikes" ground down. Took her a while to eat again. They remember how much food HURT and it takes a while. But she went through the CC mixed with apple baby stage one puree to intice her to want to eat. Then she started to nibble the softest orchard hay. And then started on the pellets a few weeks later. Just takes time and a reduction of the pain meds. Sunni has gained all her weight back due to lack of eating and is still a little apprehensive about a slender apple wood treat. She remembers pain. But will chew one now and is fine.
Your doing a super job.
