So I got a new chinnie, (Mei-Ling) she's a pretty ebony white cross. She is so sweet and I've tried introducing her to Melee. Well Melee is having none of this! lol she doesn't even want to talk to her. Mei-Ling goes up to Melee (I have their cages close to one another) just to smell her and Melee barks at her and acts oh so rude!! Oh well, maybe after some time has passed they could be friends, if not I could always just leave them separate like they are now. Mei-Ling just loves having my attention she yanks on the cage bars when I don't come over and talk to her lol. I give her lots of attention since she doesn't have a buddy.

Misty and Cookie acted like this for a while. Misty was SO MEANN to Cookie, she pulled a lot of his fur, but they are buddies now :)

awwww!! I sure hope mine will become buddies. Mei-Ling tries so hard to be friends, and she's the most submissive chin I have. If Melee accepts Mei-Ling I'll have a nice quad of females living together! Melee has her daughters Moja & Macy with her and they actually love Mei-Ling despite their mother's hatred towards her at the moment. they sniff her and get as close as they can to her, I did let them have playtime with Mei-Ling and it went well, no chasing or biting or anything like that. When I put them back in their cages Melee did nothing to her daughters but she did go over to Mei-Lings cage and bark like a mad woman! I've been monitoring them and in another week or so if Melee has calmed down I'll attempt a supervised playtime. My past intros have gone pretty smooth, I really have my work cut out this time!

There are many methods but IMO better safe than sorry after awhile! Doesn't sound like it's been long enough for you to throw in the towel just yet though. With ChinaDoll and Bambi, I had them near each other for 3 wks and it didn't fly. I was trying "playtime" also. What seemed to do the trick was an entirely different FN and all new fleece, hammocks, water bottle, food bowl, ledges, etcl so they were exploring together and not being dominant. I'm sure the wheel helped too bc they both loved theirs so to play with the new one, they had to get along;) The cuteness of their smooshy times is priceless! On a side note, I have had a girl that no matter what, was meant to live alone so be careful and good luck!

I'm quite persistent and I'll take your advice in being very careful. If all else fails a new cage will be tried. I've done intros before, but this time is a lot different. I love owning my chins and I like a good challenge, just don't want my babies to get hurt, I've seen those horrific pictures of what can happen and although I can take my chins to the vet should they get any nasty wounds I'd much rather try my very best to avoid that. I'm thankful for this forum, I've always been the quite type on here just reading what others post and taking in info. but I want to get even more involved now and had it not been for my car being in the shop this Jan. I would have most certainly drove down to the chinchilla show and stayed (could have taken the SUV but then my dad wouldn't have been able to get to work LOL!)
