Hi. You might remember a hedgie named Rikki Tikki Tavi. He almost four years old and... Well we are back on the site again. ![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
This is Rikki's second time to the vet, the last one though was just a examination. We went to the vet to get Rikki's teeth checked out since he was drooling excessively, he had a bit of a swollen jaw, and he was spitting back out solid foods like mealies and hard kibble. I had his toofies checked and cleaned. His food is soaked CSL (soaked it water to moisten up), but now the vet says to give him soft... Science Diet Canned food....*don't worry, I'm not!*..... or she said keep doing what I'm doing just make sure he can't choke on it or a liquid diet.
... he has only three-five teeth left. :cry3: All of them were bad (decaying), and the vet was real happy that we got it done soon because pus was growing in the roots (avoiding infections and something far much worse). All that he has that I can see is his two little front fangs and a bottom front tooth.
I'm thinking I should keep doing what I am doing, but just mush up his soaked kibble.... but what am I going to do with mealies and fruit/veggies/chicken?? Baby food I guess? Juice the mealies??
Thanks so much!
P.S. the positive note: My father asked the vet how long she suspected Rikki to live... she said a couple more years since his heart was so strong during the sedation going it and coming out. :dance3: Let's hope my buddy lives more than 5 years!! HIZAH!
