I am about to place an order for some chinnie supplies and needed some help with how much to get.

1. Blue Cloud Dust 5lb or 10lb. Appx. how long does a 5lb bag last for one chin?

2. Oxbow Food 5lb or 10lb. Again, how long will each last appx. with one chin? I threw out the bag from her old food (always place it in an airtight container) so I have no idea what size it was for comparison.

I have to keep in mind that I am in Canada and live in the boonies so all this stuff will need to be shipped to me...on an ongoing basis. :)

Thanks for all your help!

Oh...I am also debating over the chin spin and flying saucer too. Which one is quietest? Longer lasting? Easier to use? Takes up less space?

Not sure about the Oxbow or dust but I have two Chin Spins (need two more) and a Saucer and I like them both but my chins do seem to prefer the Chin Spin and it is less expensive so I'd go for one of those. Both are excellent wheels though and both are quiet if installed properly.

If you're going to constantly have to have it shipped in to you, then I would get as much dust as possible into one (I'm assuming?) priority box and save on shipping. Dust will never go bad if it's stored properly, so how much you need to use in X amount of time doesn't apply.

As far as the food, according to Oxbow (which I just don't believe) they say it's good for a year. If so, then again, I would get a priority box stuffed full. I know I was able to get 14 or 15 pounds of food into a tall thin priority box. That should pretty much cover you and you wouldn't have to worry about shipping for quite some time.

I agree that it would save you money in the long run to order extra now. A rough idea of pellets for a month for one chin is 2-2.5 pounds. My chins prefer their Chin Spin over their Saucer so that is what I would recommend.
