Hey there,

I have a year and a half old hedgehog, Velcro, who's a sweet little boy.

I've been feeding him high quality cat food all his life, however, he won't eat anything else. I've read in various places that hedgies like different foods, like meal worms, veggies, some fruit, some cooked meat, but Velcro doesn't eat any of it.

I've tried everything that is on a 'okay for hedgehogs to eat' list, but thus far, nothing. I'm just worried he might not be getting everything he needs nutrient wise.

Lastly, a friend of mine just got me a bag of 'Brown's Zoo Vital Hedgehog Good (Omnivore diet)' does anyone have any experience with this? Should I start changing my hedgies food slowly?

Thank you!

If your hedgie refuses to eat anything other than the cat food, I'd just make sure that it has the appropriate amount of protein in it, not too much fat... Most other people in here know WAY more about that than I do.

Maybe there are some vitamin drops you can buy to add to his food and mix it in?

Browns is a crap food. Return it if you can and get your money back. Most hedgehog foods are not good quality.

A mix of a couple good quality cat foods is a far better choice.

I would leave him on the cat food. If you want to try and suppliment you can continue to do so. But with the high quality cat food he should be getting all his nutrients.

Dont get discouraged if he doesnt like what you give him. They are just like real kids.. Some like certain foods others dont. And some wont touch it.

My Aero, no matter how many times I tried babyfood, would stick his feet in it and slide around. But would NOT eat it.
