We have two chinchillas and our older chinchilla bit the middle toe off of the new chinchilla. I am a relatively new chin owner and have no idea if I should seek veterinary help. I have attached a picture, please provide feedback. I don't want her to be in pain or have any serious health concerns. There are no changes in her eating habits or personality. Please help!

I would take her to the vet if she was my chinchilla. She could be in a lot of pain but chins are known to hid it very well. Also I would separate them if you already haven't. Hope everything works out!

She's lost a toe!! Of course she needs a vet!!

Pain meds are likely needed, and potentially some topical antibiotic, or antibiotic medicine.

And yes, you'll need to keep them separate now, or there may be worse fighting to come.

If you had a finger ripped off I would assume that you would go to the doctor. Please do her the same courtesy. You will also need to permanently separate them as clearly they don't get along.

It doesn't look like there is bone sticking out in the picture that I could see, which is the biggest concern in seeking veterinary care for a toe amputation. The other thing to watch for is infection. As far as pain meds, you probably think she's in a lot more pain than she really is. At this point I suspect the vet might just have you watch it and possibly give some oral antibiotics. Just make sure it isn't Baytril or you will be battling loss of appetite. it wouldn't hurt to do some Epsom salt soaks in warm water as well.
