I have seen the commercials from ancestry.com where you can find out your family tree.....
they offered a free month trial, so I said, "what do I have to lose?"

I have been feeling low lately, my family is small, my dad passed a few years ago and I just buried my mom last month. I have one brother who up until recently lived three hours away, but his wife passed in a tragic car accident, and he has found someone who lives in BC which is many provinces away, and I was feeling sad that I will rarely see him.
My only sister was living three hours away in Sudbury and last year took a job 12 hours away in St. Catharines....
My dad only has one sister, in her eighties, who lives in California, whom I have only seen a handful of times in my life, due to distance, but I love her dearly and keep updated by phone.
that was my family....UNTIL RECENTLY.

I joined ancestry.com. SOMEONE FOUND ME.
My aunt, (dad's sister) apparently had a baby in her teens, and gave him up for adoption. Back then, it was the thing to do. THE BABY WAS A BOY, and he found me on ancestry.com. My aunt had never mentioned this to me, I guess it was a deep dark secret.
HE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE MY FATHER!
He phoned me!!! he sounds like my father, acts like my father, and wants to meet me! he lives in Ottawa....
OH, I am so nervous and excited.

Wish me luck!!!!!

How amazing!! Congrats!!!

I have played around on ancestry.com myself, it is very interesting if you have the time to put into it

I've wondered about my ancestory too, my grandparents dont like to talk about where they came from, we think we might have some native american in our blood. It would be cool to find out!
Good luck hope everything goes well, dont forget to meet in public... hey you never know...

When you know you are going to have the time to do it, I would advise anyone curious to do the free trial! You can look up census records and all kinds of neat things, sometimes people have uploaded personal photos so you can actually see what your realities looked like. Just be ready, you never know what you might find ;)

I LOVE ancestry.com! My mom's side hadn't been in contact for over 34 years and I found cousins, aunts etc from researching on there! I'm so excited for you!

I love Ancestry.com, its fascinating. I was able to trace my husband back all the way to France in the 1400's. He's the product of a concubine, which has been my all purpose *** at him. Whenever he's done something dorky, I remind him of it, LOL.

HI everyone! We have kept in touch by phone. He just got back from California from meeting his mother (in her eighties)...and it went well. He is a super person, very respectable, and very intelligent. It is kind of eerie talking to him on the phone as it is just like talking to my deceased father!!! (he died in 2004) They look identical as well!!
He has researched into his family tree, and has gone back now to the 1700's and has prepared a cd for my sister and brother of all the information he has found on my dad's side. God works in mysterious ways because I was just feeling "down" that my parents had passed, and I was thinking that I would never be able to know more about our family since she was gone, and I could no longer ask questions.....then I saw the ancestry.com commercial, logged on to a free month, and.......found Eric. (my daughter's name is Erika btw)
I will keep you all updated and post pics of him and my dad so you can see the resemblance! (need to find the pics)

Oh wow. Thats great. And that is crazy about the names! I have always wanted to do that but I just never get around to tracing my history.
