So far I've heard that chins under 6 months cannot have treats or use an exercise wheel. Are there any other things that are a no-no for babies? Can they have wood sticks, pumice stones, loofah, or shredding stuff? Thanks a lot!

Babies can have chews (wood, pumice, etc). :) As far as other no-no's for babies, I can't think of any.

Ash is right, wood, chews, pumice all that are ok for babies. Treats and wheels are a no no

No treats and no strenuous exercise are to maintain their caloric balance- they are using tons of calories to grow and you would not want to throw anything in there that would upset or retard that.

That makes a lot of sense thank you! Does this mean that they get limitless amounts of feed too?

Oh no! No exercise wheel really??? Ugh my 5-month old has been running on it for 3 weeks. Is it really bad? :(

uh oh!

I have been giving Miguel who is going to be 3 months on the 11th of feb, treats! But he only gets a mini wheat and 2 cheerios a day, if that. I have him very limited and make sure no one else treats him but me. :rules:

Isn't "six months" sort of arbitrary when it comes to using a wheel due to growth since some chins are not finished growing by that time? Just curious. I do have a chin spin and the twins are 8 months old. They are definitely not done growing since they have been steadily gaining weight and getting bigger. Scully is only 5 months but I have never seen her use the chin spin. I did wait till the six month mark to intro the wheel to the twins but they're still growing...?

First off 1 treat per day. You are giving too many treats. and no treats till 6 months.

As for the wheel my personal rule is no wheel till they are done growing

That was what I was thinking. I feel like the only way to tell would be to weigh them consistently and notice when they are no longer gaining a significant amount.

6 months is when their growing slows down and at that point if you aren't showing a wheel will not hurt them. Before then their joints are growing faster and it is more important all the calories they ingest go to the rapid growth.
