Well, I'm still planning to be there. Hopefully Mike will be able to come (I'm not all about making the drive by myself!) but the biggest event in the town he works in is scheduled for that weekend so I am not sure if he'll be able to get it off. Fingers crossed!

optional claiming means that an exibitor can put a price on the chinchilla they are showing and another person can buy it. This show does not require you to put your chinchilla up for sale. There are other shows like the Ohio Claiming Show in October where each animal being shown is for sale.

and the Dusting and Grooming begins...Yay!!
Dee, I hope you are still planning to be there!

We'll be there Crissy! My husband has the weekend off, but his schedule hasn't been approved by his supervisor so if something comes up, I'll be coming out on my own. Regardless, I'll be there!

I would love to go to this! My mother lives near Albany so if I take Greyhound there from Boston, I think it could work.

I'm having trouble imagining what a show would be like....I'm just picturing tons of chinchillas lined up on a stage, strutting their stuff. :p

I've never been to a show - are there many breeders selling chins besides the show chins? I think we might be ready to add a third girl to our family, hopefully a dark/extra dark ebony.

It looks like this show is only about 2 hours away from me, might be worth going to.

Looks like it's 2 hours from my house. I would love to go.. hmm now just need to convince my dad it's worth the drive :) Do you know what time it starts and ends?

Classification starts at 9 am.
That means the judge(s) group the animals by color/age/sex. So that takes a while. It could take up to an hour if there are alot of animals.
Once that is done the show begins. I'm thinking about 10 would be a good time to show up. Lunch will be served at the hall. So buy the lunch! It's great! After lunch the show begins again. I'm picking my brain here.....I think the show was over somewhere about 5 or 5:30??
You can show up and leave at anytime. Tell your parents to bring a book or something to do if they are not interested. I've seen spouses read during a show lol. Chapters welcome anyone who wants to come.

Please see the first post to this thread for more information.

I think I may be coming :) You can enter the show when you get there (before 9:00) right? Or do yo sign up before the show? I am excited for my first real chinchilla show. (I have been to small animal shows before but not one for chinchillas).

Also, are there many toy/wood vendors there?

I can bring products to the show if I know what you need ahead of time. I used to set up a table but I'm working too much now to come up with extra products for an entire table. I have pecan wood for sale for $10/lb and I have a couple toys that I make, some aren't listed on my site, but I can do special requests.

confirming, the ryersons will be there.
whimsy, you can forward your donations to me... very much appreciated.
Mookie, many breeders will sell animals at the show.
Tiffany has some pretty darn good things for chins.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

For new comers there are raffles, 50/50, animals, some accessories for sell... plus lunch.

How about signing up/ entering your chins in the show? Do you do that when you get there? (before 9:00) or can you do that before hand?

You do that at the show. I usually get there right at 7:00 to groom animals. You may want to come at that time so people can help you.
