I wouldn't change my feed or anything, but I know that it's a good food for hamsters, so I didn't know if it was like BAD for chins or just bad for chins. :p

It actually doesn't look terrible. I'm not a professional, but if I had to choose one of the petsmart foods other than mazuri or oxbow i'd probably pick it :/ I'll let someone else chime in.

ok, i just found out something odd...... the bag of 'nutriphase chinchilla formula' pellets i picked up today (because two petsmarts didn't have oxbow or mazuri, grrr......) in a Canadian petsmart doesn't have the same ingredients as those listed on the American petsmart website. wonder if we've got a different formulation of nutriphase up here? the bag sitting right in front of me does not contain the sunflower seed, raisins, or dried bananas that the petsmart website speaks of. in fact, the bag i have is so close to mazuri that i'd have to really pick apart the ingredient list and know the percentages of each ingredient to find much difference.

the photo of the bag on the petsmart website and my bag are identical. guaranteed analysis percentages are identical too.

interesting, huh?

Which American one are you referring to? http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753476
That is what I was looking at.

ETA: Nevermind I see what you're talking about :)

That's strange, I didn't know what it would be like because I noticed it had no treats in it, and my other nutriphase for dwarf hamsters does, and it's supposed to, so I think that if it is bad, that they at least must had tried

We are curious too, we JUST bought a bag yesterday, in an attempt to ween them off of this:

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753466

It came with our old cages and they have started to pick the treat parts out and just eat them, leaving the pellets.

I'm looking at going to a better food as soon as I can source a supply locally at a decent price.

broderp, that's the food that Gery was on when i was babysitting her. i picked out all the treat stuff and only fed her the pellets from it to make nutrition a tad better for her, along with loose timothy hay i bought because she didn't come with any, just an alfalfa cube :(. and yes, i sent a note home with her about feeding better food :))

You don't have to "wean" your chin off of anything. Do a cold switch and provide plenty of hay for the temporary temper tantrum. Your chin won't starve itself, and it's better to get them off the crap sooner rather than alter.

I heard a cold switch would be disruptive to thier digestive system. ??

So what the final on the Nutriphase? Good? Bad? OK?

i had posted the ingredient lists for the bag of nutriphase i bought at a Canadian petsmart, and the ingredient lists i found on petsmart's website for oxbow and mazuri here in the this thread but now my post was deleted? i don't understand?
