As some of you may know, my 6 1/2 year old male just had teeth filings last week, and I've been force feeding him. Today was day 7, the last day the vet instructed me to force feed. He has put some weight back on already, I can tell, but he hasn't really started eating his regular food again yet. I'm thinking it may just be because he doesn't really need it, as he's devouring his alfalfa slims like normal (which are harder than his pellets) and chewing on other things that are harder, such as his wreath.

What I'm wondering is, do other people's chins like Nutrical? Cause mine sure doesn't. I ordered it recently and just got it yesterday. I've tried three times to offer it and he acts insulted. I know this is a good thing to feed when they're sick or recovering from something, which is why I thought it would be great to have, and even better now that the force feeding period should be over. Is there anything I can do with it to entice him?

Also, how exactly does this stuff benefit them? Considering it is made for carnivorous animals and all...

Nutrical is worthless as far as being nutritional, and if you read the ingrediants there is nothing good in there for a chin and I don't know anyone who uses it or recommends it. Use Critical Care as a food replacment to feed as a soft food.

He probably doesn't like it because it's not really tasty. Also, it's for carnivores, not herbivores. As Dawn said, Critical Care is the food of choice for animals needing a boost with hand feeding, either because of illness or injury, and sometimes weight loss. It's nickname is "calories in a can", but I don't say that as a complement.
