i have two chinchillas, a male & a female, caged together and im telling you they are the biggest love bugs ever. but the other day during playtime the female started showing aggression to the male. she wasnt biting him just standing on her back legs and barking at him then chasing him away. i put her back into the cage and about an hour or so later i put the male back in the cages and observed them for a while and they were back to being love bugs. it did happen near my new females cage that i just recieved a couple days ago..do you think it was her scent that made them fight? is that normal?

Females will sometimes fight with a male when they are in estrus or some other unknown reason. Keep a close eye on them and provide plenty of places for the male to hide in case the female tries to seriously hurt him. I doubt the new female had anything to do with it but with chins you never know for sure.
