No pellets for me, thanks

My ex-girlfriend's chinchilla, Pikachu, is adorable and getting friendlier all the time. She absolutely refuses to eat her pellets though which, although I don't have them in front of me, I believe are high quality. What can I do?

Also, how much hey should she be having a day. I understand it must be replaced daily, correct?

Unrelated but... I am having a very hard time with the fact that my ex is someone who doesn't empathize with animals but rather sees them as something there when it's convenient for her. Pikachu has NOTHING to do to keep her mentally stimulated. I'm going to get her a wheel and a snuggle buddy at least.

It would really help to know what kind of pellets she's feeding. However, if she's not eating them, she needs to have LOTS of timothy hay and your friend needs to monitor her weight.

Even if it is a quality food it should probably be changed to another quality food - Maybe the chin doesn't like that brand
