There was a stray cat hanging around my yard for a few weeks and I finally caught him and he is now living with my daughter. He's a very sweet and loving, neutered, front declawed cat. He is not chipped and no one has claimed him. He looked a little beat up when I caught him. He vet checked okay except for some battle wounds which should clear up. He is getting some eyedrops for a scratch he has on his left eye. Okay, now you have the history. Every night, and this is only at night, he yowls. He walks around the apartment and yowls quite loudly. He has food, water and nothing else appears to be wrong with him. My daughter is getting exasperated with not getting enough sleep because of him. We thought it would subside but it has been about a week now. The vet said to ignore him when he does that. My daughter closes him in a room so she could try to get some sleep. Does anyone know why a cat would do this? He seems happy, healthy and I know he's well fed. Any suggestions or ideas, anyone?

He's a male cat--he wants a female cat. Whether he's neutered or not he still calls out to the girl cat of his dreams. Baxter does this quite a bit Carol and we just tell him to shoosh up. Then he hops in my lap and he's all right.

Really? I have three male neutered cats and it never happens here. I guess some aren't as romantically inclined as others? Angela's hoping he's just unsure of where he's at and the sudden changes his life took and that he'll settle down.

My elderly male cat does it now. We are pretty sure he is deaf. None of my other male cats have ever done this.

I keep my kittys inside too,but they grew up that way.
He was probably used to roaming at night.Hopefully he'll calm down after a bit.

I would say he wants to go back out. Too bad for him as he's safer indoors anyway. Make sure he has plenty to entertain himself with. I brought some old stumps into the house for scratching and rubbing on. Could she crack a window so he can still smell the outside? My cats love that!
Good luck with him!

He's a wonderful, friendly, snuggly cat. My daughter has another cat, too. They get played with quite a lot. I hope, for my daughter's sake and sanity, the yowling subsides.
