PICO!
Pico was being advertised on Craigslist because -he- was tormenting the cat--biting the paws when kitty stuck them in his cage (I'd do it too! lol). So they were giving him and all of his supplies away for free to a good home, and I got him. -biiig grin-
He is SO SUPER SWEET! I put my hands in his cage to see if he'd investigate, and he hopped right into them! I just wanted to see if was going to run away...what a sweetheart! He sits still when I hold him, so far, but that was only for 5 minutes to check his temperature, so who knows what he'll be like later this week.
He is temporarily in the cage he was living with before, a plastic bottomed and shelved cage which I'm pretty sure is for ferrets.
He is a healthy 2.5-3 year old chin, who "was originally bought from a breeder in New Jersey." Unfortunately, he has some cosmetic issues. He is missing the first half of one of his fingers on his right paw...he has a hole in his right ear, and two chunks taken out of the top of the left ear. He has a big blad spot on his head, which is weirdly shaped (it has 2 big lumps between his ears, never felt it on Mork/Sonya/Rodya. Maybe he's the other kind of chinchilla?) ...and his tail is almost half bald on one side. Hopefully it will grow back. Either way, he's still beautiful!
I don't know what color he is though. Def not standard or black velvet, he might me some weird sort of ebony..I could use some help identifying his color. He has a black tail, and black fur with gray tips, some big black patches that are very dark--one on the top of his head, one on his leg (you can see in one of the pics), etc.
So, without further ado, meet Pico, who may soon be renamed Pikachu, because I'm not a fan of the name.

he is either a lite ebony or he is a dark standard....with a dirty belly...id go with a standard, its hard to tell because you dont have pics of his belly..

Sorry, it was hard getting pics, I didn't want to scare him. If he is a standard, he has the dirtiest belly I've ever seen. No white whatsoever, he looks just like the rest of his fur. He was covered in dust when I took the pics, so he looks lighter than he really is. I'll take better pics soon! I promise

You should change is name to Captain Pico! Then do a pirate theme in his cage. You could get a boat bed and treasure chest buddies. A flag as a hammock. Ok I'm getting ahead of myself here. :dance3:

Awwwww....congrats. He is simply adorable...even with his "cosmetic" issues. That is what makes them so unique. My Allie had the tips of her ears chewed when she was younger. It gives her character.

It shows his color much better.

I'd really like to rename him...although Pico is a very catchy name, it isn't really my kind of name.
My boyfriend is suggesting I go with the Russian theme again, as I dd for Sonya-Rodya-Ivan, but I did that because Sonya and Rodya came to me as a pair, and I thought it was sweet that they were like Sonya and Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment, which I was obsessing over at the time...then when Ivan came along I just had to stick with the theme.
Mork is named after Robin Williams' character in Mork and Mindy, because he came with Orson--Mork was originally called 'Opie' but I don't like that name AT ALL, so I wanted to do another 'theme' with the two boys, and as I liked Orson, I decided he should be Mork. Orson was the guy who would 'call' Mork at the end of every episode, if you remember. (;

That information wasn't really necessary, but whatever--I don't know what to rename Pico, if I should even rename him. I'm thinking about Pichu, like Machu-Pichu, the place with all the ruins in Peru...
My roommate is really gunning for "Pikachin" or "Pikachu" or something like that. But it seems too cliched for me...and he really likes puns, sooo
Thoughts, suggestions, etc would be appreciated
He's super sweet, and a good sized boy (haven't gotten a scale yet X_x but he's bigger than Mork), and...hmm..what else is in his personality quirk?

HE HUMPS MY HAND AND ARM WHEN I PUT IT IN THE CAGE TO LET HIM COME OUT!!!!
At first I thought he was trying to get out of the cage and was having a hard time balancing on my arm, until he started giving me love bites. Then I was like OHMYGODYOUARENOT!
And then my arm was all...wet afterwards. :cry3: It was traumatizing!
): So maybe something having to do with his "LOVE" for me...lol. I have never had that happen before, BTW, Mork used to make the noise and do the swishy tail dance when I petted him, until I got him a little stuffed love buddy, but he never actually..ermm...humped me! ACK! Gotta get Pico a love buddy stat. LOL.
