Newborn with 1 eye shut

My mama Chin had 3 chinchillas and the smallest one has only 1 eye open. Doesnt look to be infected. It's been a day now since they were born. Should I be worried about an eye problem?

At first neither eye was open, but after a few hours the one eye opened up

Leave it be, as long as there is no drainage. Sometimes this happens with newborn kits and can take a couple of days to open. usually opens on it's own.

I'd get that eye open as soon as possible. It does not hurt at all to take a cotton ball with some warm water to the eye to help ease it open. I get their eyes open as soon as I notice that they are closed.

Yea, you don't want to leave a closed eye shut. I, too, open them as soon as I find them by just gently prying the lids apart with my thumbs. If there is any pus or infection, it's best to take care of it as soon as possible rather than leave it to open/improve on its own.

Yeap, I agree with Susan and Mish, get that eye open. I normally use a q-tip with warm water and rub across the eyelid to get it open.

Thanks for the help.

I tried at wet warm wash cloth, but not for very long. I was too afraid of getting her too wet. They eye opened earlier that day on it's own.

My chinchilla has had 3 liters and had never seen that before.
