So i finally bought a new cage for my Haru. Its the ferret nation 182. I know they need to be modified for chinchillas, but Have no idea how to go about this? Links would be really helpful. I also was wondering if anyone on here has pictures of how theirs is setup? Id love to see. Thanks!

from my research, the difference between the new 182 and the old 142 is that the 182 is a 'no tools' assembly, and the 142 required tools.

the bars are the same between the two.

Laura, maybe you are confusing the Critter Nation with the Ferret Nation? it's the CN that has the many horizontal bars, FN has the vertical bars with just a few horizontal ones spaced out.

Here's a thread with how to make a lot of your own stuff, shelves, accessories etc. As others have said, under the housing section there's a ferret nation club with TONS of pictures of everyone's cages, trust me they are impressive!

Make sure you post some pictures after you're done so we can see! Btw, love the name Haru.

Thanks guys! I haven't set the cage up yet. I think Haru is still too small to go in. I think she would be super overwhelmed since she is only about 5 months old. I also want to get a little more stuff for her to play on so once I do set it up she has lots to do.

My main confusion is finding the new deep pans that go in the bottom, where do I get those? I couldn't find any information.

There is also a lot of great supplies for sale here on CnH's, from various members. A great variety, and very cool stuff that your chinchilla will love! Just check out the "Chins Supplies FOR SALE" section. :) Good luck decorating your cage!!!

if i recall, the one type at least was called Bass Pan. Do a fourm search on that key word and you should find them. Theirs a chance i might be looking into some in a month or two myself! (one can hope')
