new born chin

hi folks i need help,my chin gave birth an hour ago,i dont know what to do,i have seperated male and put soft fleece bedding in cage for mum and baby. what else do i have to do? how long before baby needs a feed from mum? what if mum doesnt know what to do?

Have you weighed the baby? If not, please do so. You'll need to check that the baby is gaining daily.

Are mom and kit in a kit safe cage? (Wiring no larger than 1/2" x 1/2" all the way around?)

havent wieghed baby yet,they are in a safe cage and mother and child doing good,dad seems sad to be in seperate cage but they are still close to each other.

Please keep the cages at least six inches away from each other, although more would be better. Chinchillas can breed through the cage bars.
