I got a 1 1/5 old beige chin from a friend. She was housed with a male and did have one baby. The person I got her from sold off the male and the baby and kept the female.I ended up with the female now.She now has startd to fur chew and when we try to pick her up and even handle her as far as pet her she pees and when I say she pees I mean she strays it so it goes every where. She was good the first cpl days she was w me.I have her housed alone next to my chins and she has been getting along with them threw cage.I am asking suggestions on what I can do to get her to stop fur chewing and the way she sprays her pee...Plz help me,I wanna get her friendly!

Never had to deal with fur chewing with any of my chins but I would suggest Lots of toys to chew on to keep her from getting bored... AS far a spraying you with pee.. I have had my chin that sprays me for 2 1/2 years and she still sprays me every time I try to get her out of her cage... I don't know if they grow out of that... I would like to know if there is a way to get them to stop spraying to....

First, once fur chewing starts it's very hard to stop. Try and figure out what triggered it. Was it being alone? Was it the move? Is there something there currently upsetting her? Is it too loud, too hot, too quiet, too bright? If you can figure that out, you may be able to correct it, but don't count on it. What starts as genetic, or possibly environmental, becomes habitual and it's mostly impossible to break the cycle.

Second, YCT, spray back. Get a water bottle, put warm water in it, and the next time she sprays, spray back. Don't soak your chin. This isn't about giving them a bath, it's about returning the favor. Any sprayer I've ever had has only needed a few spray backs to calm them down.

Chinnys in your case, give her a little bit longer to settle in. She is obviously exhibiting signs of stress between the chewing and the spraying. Just leave her alone for a while, only handle her when you absolutely have to, and let her have a couple weeks to adjust and settle in. Then see if the spraying stops or the chewing cuts back at all.

These are good suggestions thats so much anymore is always welcome. She has tons of toys and chewys.Like Tunes said maybe the move is what she is not liking I have had her for about a month now and I wanted to put her in w my female but I wanted her to stop the sprayin n fur chewing before I do so.

I think I'd wait a while before putting them together - I've seen fur chewers chew a passive cagemate - then you've 2 looking bad!

Yes I am gonna wait.Just wanted her to stop doing these things first !

Awesome suggestion, Tunes! I have a sprayer here, and I never could figure out a way to get her to stop. I'm definitely going to try this!

It sounds like your girl is stressed out. I agree on giving her lots to do in her cage, and handling her only when you have to for a little while. Spend soem time sitting by the cage, or with your arm in the cage, so she gets the idea that you're not dangerous.

I have been talking to her while cleaning her cage I even let her stay in there while I clean so she can see I am not a bad person I move her cage around alot so she has diffrent things to do>due to her fur chewing she has bold spots with that grow back?

That is good to know she is not as pretty as she should be rt now.I feel bad for her.

I have noticed if I let her out of the cage to run lose n have a treat ready for her when she comes near me she does not try to spray me w her pee.She has stopped chewing her fur I think she was just not happy to always be in a cage w her old owner.

She may be off and on with the fur chewing. I have a guy here like that. And it takes alot longer than you would think to grow back. I'll bet she's still cute, chewed fur and all! :)

Yes she is and ya I kinda figured it would take a good amount of time to grow back but at least it does
