We are moving from Memphis, TN to Minneapolis, MN in two weeks. Any suggestions on how to make the trip easy for 13 chinchillas? It's a very long drive. Our last trip took us 15 hours.

Most chins take travelling with stride..they usually just sit in their carrier and sleep the whole ride.

When I travel with my chins, I make sure as little sun will be hitting them as possible. For that long of a ride I would use shavings in their carrier instead of fleece (some people have fleece liners for their carriers.) I give them each a big handful of hay and a variety of chew toys. We usually stop every few hours and let them drink from their water bottles and offer them pellets.

I agree, chins normally do just fine for traveling. The longest my girls have went is 5 hours, but show chins go longer distances than that.

Just keep them in carriers, not in cages so they don't have a lot of room to fly if you get in an accident.

I put hay, a small scoop of pellets and a couple twigs in with my chins in their Ryerson carriers. Then when I stop for a break I offer a waterbottle. I've found that they never wanted a drink, but with that long of a drive they probably will. You could just put hay in the carrier, but I like putting a couple pellets in there just in case they want to nibble on them.

And welcome to my neck of the woods! My fiancee lives in a suburb of St. Paul/Minneapolis so I'm there about once or twice a month :))

Thanks!
That is awesome. Now I know where to get my supplies.
