I have a hedgehog who I adopted last fall. Her nails have recently gotten fairly long and are starting to curl. I have tried countless times to trim them. I've even tried while giving her a bath, because it is the only time she lets me touch her all over - because she's too concerned about getting out of the water lol, but she is too squirmy and I can't do it when she is moving. She had to have surgery and was traumatized before I got her so she is still very scared. I try and hold her all the time, and she's improved a lot, but she curls up into a ball and I cannot get to her feet or hold them still to trim them. Is there anything I can do? I was thinking about bringing her to a vet, because she may need to be put to sleep to actually do it - that's the only thing I can think of. My other hedgehog, I never have to trim her nails, they are always short - get worn from the wheel or something, so I'm lucky there. lol. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Did you try to have someone holding her while you clip her nail (or you hold her and someone else clip the nails). I found a way of clipping Litchi's nail alone. I hold her with one hand and lean her back on my chest and I can manage to grab one paw an clip the nail. If it doesn't work, you should bring her to the vet so he/she can clip them while "sleeping".

I used to have the same problem with Sonique, she used to be impossible to cut her nails. I can only do it when I bath her. It's still not always easy but it takes alot of patience, I used to have someone hold her while I grab a foot but now I can do it on my own. She is pretty stubborn too so it takes awhile to get every foot
