Hi, since few days Boing live with me in my bedroom, my roomate complain a bit about he boing's wheel noise (a 15 inch chinspin) particurialy during the night he break his seleep. Personaly, i sleep verry deeply, a 727 can crash in my neibourgh backyard and it will change nothing about my sleeping time. I ear nothing absoluthy nothing from boing's cage. but for him it is a quite big trouble.

i send you a pic of his home and give my your ideas! for now his cage is fixed in the wall with screws and washers it had cut the cage vibration by over 50% but the vibration are absorbed by the wall and are audible. I have put a part of cardboard between the wheel screws and the wall for absorbing a bite of the noise. and that it

the cage can't be moved to an other place your help will be greatly appreciated

Is the wheel itself wobbly? If so, the bearing may be crapping out and that could make the wheel, and in turn the cage, shake very badly.

If that's the case you can contact Quality Cage and they will mail you out a new bearing and instructions on how to install it.

nop the berring look to be clean the trouble is more the vibration generated by boing when he spin in his wheel

you don't have a living room that you can move him to?

yes but it is the best idea for making him overheat or be stress by my other roommate or friend, i prefer to keep him in my room and lock the door just by safety, I love my boy and don't want any surprise like a piece of any food in his cage or a temparature at 85 when I come back at home!

Could you move him from that wall and place him either on another wall or just move the cage away from the wall? You said you are a very hard sleeper, so the noise shouldn't bother you, and then it will also not be transferred to the wall that is also connected to his room.

ah okay I see. Instead of cardboard, could you maybe roll up a bit of fleece and put it behind the wheel so the bolts don't vibrate against the wall? That might help muffle the sound better than cardboard, but I'm not sure.

not so bad, I have already move the cage to an other wall and du to my small room and small number of possibility I can't put my cage to an other place and isn't the wall between our 2 beedrooms. change the cardboard by an other materail isn't an bad idea! but changing the cage off the wall i think isn't not a great idea beacose du to it height 44 inch it is a bit easy to swing when he spin

First, that's a large and heavy cage to keep on a table that high, and too close to the wall to prevent chewing of the drywall or plaster!
Second, hot air rises - the closer to the ceiling, the warmer it is!
If you put the cage directly on the floor, the vibrations will decrease quite a bit, as the carpet will absorb them!
If you take a couple of zip-ties and tighten the bracket of the wheel to the cage, with some cloth between then, the wheel will become almost silent!
A old towel, rolled-up, at the bottom of the door, will also help deaden the noise between the rooms!

Boing's cage (when he was with me) was always close to a wall and chewing on the wall never was an issue. There's no place in the room for Boing to be put on the floor, but I don't think heat can be an issue because the a/c not to far from him. I do agree that fleece or something like that might reduce the noise. I do not think it's that bad, I'm a light sleeper and I barely heard him...

I would be VERY concerned that his cage is now mounted to the wall with screws and washers - mainly because of his cage being directly in contact with the wall - and even if he hasn't in the past eaten drywall - there's nothing to say he won't in the future - it only takes ONE TIME for him to do it - and it could cause very serious health problems - or even death! Plus with the cage mounted to the wall - this would reduce circulation of the air in the room - and you'd want as much air movement as possible.

The legs of the table could be cut down, or remove the table altogether - it looks flimsy to me, which could also be hitting the wall! Put the cage on the floor!!
Putting carpet between the cage and table would also help!
If it's gotta be against the wall - glue carpeting to a piece of melamine, and longer screws, as that'll eliminate the chance of drywall or plaster ingestion, and "soundproof" that area!

thx rickman i will use your sugestion I go buy melamine, fleece and long screw tonight. Badly it is the only place where the cage can be i live in a verry small 10 by ten room with a double bed, and a huge computer desk i had command this cage from quality cage builded custom for be in place on this desk, if i had did't do that boing had to live in a verry small cage or be relocated in a new family :( will give you a feedback in fiew days ! thx for the idea!

thx a lot Rickman the melmine had completely fix my trouble now the only noise I ear is Boing chewing his toys
