My baby girl just passed on about an hour ago. Oh, how I'm going to miss you. You brought so much joy to my life. Those days of curling up under my hair and going to sleep. Packing those jaws with as much food as you could reach. Running on the outside of your wheel just to make me laugh. Spitting food at me because you were mad that I picked you up. Those days are unforgettable. You were so perfect, always using your pear house to potty in. You're my last little hamster, but always my #1 girl. You hold a special place in my heart and always will. The last 2 weeks have been hard for both of us. I didn't want to let you go. You and I both knew it was time. I'm glad you're not suffering anymore and now you can meet Gir over the rainbow bridge. Rest in peace little girl.

I'm so sorry you lost Bertha :( What a little sweety she must have been. The worst part about owning a hamster is their short life span. My hamster is over 2, I think, and has quieted down a lot. I never see him in his wheel anymore. He does roll around in his ball around the house a few nights a week, but it used to be nightly. I know he won't be around for too much longer and then I'll be feeling what you are right now. It is so hard to lose a friend. I really like that second picture of Bertha climbing up her cage. It's incredible what they can do to escape their enclosure!

Bertha would be 4 pretty soon (if not already, based on what I could gather from when I purchased her). She lived a spoiled life. I didn't really take many pictures of her in the past 2 years because she didn't like the flash. She had a 3 ft tall cage with hammocks and tons of toys in it. She stopped running on her wheel a few months back and this week she decided she wasn't going to leave her igloo. I knew then she wouldn't make it much longer. I held her close to me a few hours a day and kept telling her to go on. Today, she finally listened.

I'm so sorry to hear she passed away, but it sounds like she had a long, wonderful life with you. Hammies may be small, but they have huge hearts and leave such an impression on ours. Rest in peace, Bertha :hug4:

What an adorable little angel! I am so very sorry. How lucky you were to have each other.
