My friend Meighan rents a room in this oldercouples house. She has a cat, and a new dog Louise. The woman who lives in the house calls my friend yesterday at work to tell her her dog has died. The woman (who has many health issues) left a bottle of No Dos (caffine pills-sorry if that's not the spelling) on the floor and Louise got into them at 10 am...at 1 am the people thought to bring her to the vet and she died on the way there. She had eaten 9 pills.

My friend is just in pieces...I feel so bad for her. She just cannot get a break. In Nov. her bf broke up with her for basically no reason and broke her heart. Then her car got broken into. Then she got rear-ended. Then her car got broken into again. And a week before she was moving her house got broken into. She then got Louise to help with her depression she was getting and then got into a car accident and her car was totaled. Now she finally has a new car and her puppy dies.

Well wishes for my friend and happy thoughts in memory of Louis.

Oh my gosh, that is a pretty incredible string of bad luck. Believe me I know a thing or two about that. So preventable with the dog. Glad you can be there for her, I'm sure you are a great friend.

Ditto. Best of luck to her! That's so sad about the puppy...:(

that's the thing that sucks for her right now. The thing with her dog could have been prevented to all ends...and it had nothing to do with her...completely out of her hands...

not to mention (don't know if I put this in the first post) she ate the pills at 10 am and they didn't think to do anything till after 1...I mean really...:hair:

People really do make me mad though...

And I know NOT ALL older people are like this, but I just see the craziest things...
There was an old lady who could hardly walk or see and she drove her car right into the front of a supermarket around where I used to live. I was walking down the street one day on a quite large sidewalk when this really old lady in her scooter rams into me, head on. I mean, I was pretty much walking on the grass to make sure she had enough room. At the grocery store, I had an experience one time where this old lady had a cup of hot coffee and poured it all down the back of me (I was working there, at the register). She didn't even notice! I screamed and she was upset that I had startled her.

I'm not saying that there aren't young or middle aged people who aren't oblivious either! Sheesh... but this lack of attention paid to things around you is just frustrating!
No matter how old or young you are, you don't leave pills on the floor! You don't let the baby stick its fingers in electrical sockets and you don't endanger others!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I hope those people at least replace the dog. (but how do you replace a friend?)

I thought they should do something, but all they are offering is to split the cremation bill ($100). I think this is total BS!!! I mean I would at least offer a month of free rent...honestally...

:impatient:

I agree. The "oblivious" excuse wouldn't hold up in a court if they killed a child, and I don't think it should hold up for killing a dog, either. They should be held to more responsibility. It's just common sense. I hope things work out for your friend!
